Rethinking Resolutions: Art Journaling as a Path to Mindful Growth

Do you have a sense of how you'd like to end the year? Does that even matter? If right now feels like a good time for you to reflect, by all means, go for it! But please, if that feels overwhelming amidst holiday chaos and whatever else may be going on in your life right now, don't do it just because society is telling you to. There's plenty of time for reflection or intention-setting. Do it when it feels right to you.
For example, you can do this AFTER the new year, when things might be subsiding for you. Another great time for this is in the Spring when the world starts to reopen and bloom. You can do the same!
The main point I'd like to make here is to do what feels right for you when it feels right. Annual reflections, intentions, goals, priority-setting—all of that is great—necessary, even, for growth and living a fulfilled life. But you don't need to do it now just because Instagram and the rest of the media told you so.
This year, I'm giving myself time to go inward, slow down, and relax as much as possible over the winter months. In January, I'm going to be doing some gentle reflection along with my amazing community of art journalers in New Year, New Layers: A 30-Day Art Journaling Journey for Beginners. Then, toward the end of March, my planning for the year will really start.
Spring is the time when I feel more energized, as many of us do. It is natural, after all. We are animals whose ancestors, until quite recently, always lived according to the seasons along with the rest of the natural world. Teaser: I'm planning something amazing for you all this Spring! All will be revealed in time. :)
Ok, well, I'm keeping this one short. I just wanted to hop in for a moment because I was just thinking about all the busyness that's going on around me and the overwhelm and pressure that started creeping in, and if it's happening to me, it's probably happening to many of you as well.
So this is your reminder that it's ok to slow down, it's ok to let things go, it's ok to push things like goals into the new year. And if all this has resonated with you, you'll love my gentle art journaling experience, New Year, New Layers, that's starting January 1st. Right now is a great time to sign up, and perhaps check something off your to-do list, and give the gift of art journaling to a friend! Registration for 30 days of Art Journaling prompts that are designed for all levels of experience in a supportive group (you only need 5-10 minutes a day) is only $29 until Dec 20, 2024. After that, the price will go back up to $48 per person.
If this feels right to you, please do sign up. I know you'll be happy you did. I can't wait to see you there!
