Meet The Writer.

In participation in Beth Kempton's #MeetTheWriter challenge.

I’ll journal and write notes from several different places around my home, but the place where I do most of my writing is from this desk. As I listen to the click-clacking of my keyboard, I look slightly to my left and find a burning candle, lighting and scenting the air for a cozy and calm vibe. Just to my right sits my mug filled with steaming hot masala chai. Though this can vary from different kinds of teas to coffee. I love oat milk for my creamer; the taste is earthy and divine.

If I turn further to my right, as I swing past the bookshelf filled with classics to self-help books, the space transforms into my art studio, where it tends to get messy with various objects (not necessarily related art). My easel, gifted to me by my amazing husband, sits with the piece I’m currently working on, ready to be added to when the feeling strikes. Continuing along the circle, the space turns into my husband’s jam space, filled with basses, guitars, amps, and who knows what else!

Then, as I turn back around to face my desk, I see beautiful plants, my bulletin board, and an art wall of my own work, all giving life and inspiration to the space. Finally, when I look up and past my computer screen(s) - I have 3 for my day job - I have a lovely view of the sky, currently an early morning blue-gray, creating a blue-hour feel on the town. I see treetops swaying in the breeze, the phone wires crossing in front, bringing the magic of electricity and internet here so that I can share my work with you.

And that is my space and my view. I wonder how yours is similar and different to mine.

Hello!

Hi, I'm Vicky Winkler, founder of Wildly Creative Wellness and living proof that you don't need decades of art training (or a single "talent" gene) to let a paintbrush and a blank page change your day.

This is where I share honest reflections from my own path toward balance, self-care, and contentment. If you're curious about art journaling as a practice for mindful living, or you just need a little nudge toward your own creative spark, you're in the right place.

Pull up a chair. Let's make something together.
